Truthfully, Sylar would have rather skipped the dismemberment part--he'd already lost two of his fingers when he'd gone to kill Arthur, and while they'd grown back, he had no desire to repeat the experience. Still, however, he understood that, at least for the moment, Peter was making an attempt at a joke, and so, he allowed him a smile.
