He'd let her sleep until somewhere nearing nine o'clock the next morning, occupying his own time spent awake thumbing through a book, sure that it was the safest of all of his options. She'd gotten up, surprisingly without complaint, taken a few minutes to get her bearings, then slipped out the door to bring back the breakfast she'd promised him the night before. He wasn't sure why she hadn't asked what he'd wanted, whether she figured they liked the same things or if she'd simply forgotten, but it had amused him just the same.

Returning to the couch, a hint of a smile on his face, he'd pulled his book back into his lap and waited for her to return. And some twenty minutes later she had, carrying two take-out plates full of surprisingly decent pancakes and a half gallon of ice cream -- for the pancakes, of course. They'd moved into the kitchen and she'd pestered him into telling the rest of his life story as they ate.

Now out of words, or at least things he could talk about without having to edit immensely, the sat in silence as they finished up their breakfast. After a moment, though, he couldn't help but suggest, "Your turn."

"No." A grin. "I have Chandra. And she's been very gracious about letting me help her when I can. The ones I've taken...well, not everyone is so accepting to the change. Telling her that suicide was their only option..." She shrugged. "As long as they're far between, she believes it."

"She's good for some things." And that got him a curtsy before she sat down again, a bit of a beam on her place. "So~ You should call, and set up a meeting, and then we'll get going.

Of course. But she was more subtle, so for the time being, things were good.

She nudged her phone toward him again, rolling her eyes just a bit. "I'm not doing everything for you. Read it yourself."

She just grinned at him when he rolled his eyes at her, able to tell the difference between the negative type, and what that was. She stayed quiet as he made the call, getting up eventually to clean up what mess they'd made while eating breakfast, and by the time he was finished she was putting the last glass in the cupboard.

She had raised an eyebrow at the change in his voice, but didn't recognized it. For her? It was Norah Bennet, after all.

"And how the hell are we going to get across town in half an hour?"

"Oh."

Again, she's staring at him. Was he expecting anything else? "That's...wow."

The look of shock turned into a slow smile as she moved forward to him, and bit her tongue. "So I just hang onto you?"

"No carrying me up there, then?"

She was teasing though, and nodded, grabbing her phone and putting it back into the purse that had been left near the door the night before. She slipped her jacket on too, and then stepped out into the hall to wait for him.

"No complaining if I don't smell powder fresh. I don't really have time to shower."

Women.

"Picking locks? Well...I can do it, I guess? I mean, I do it at home when I've lost my keys in my purse and all," she replied, following after him up up up. "I've never really had a reason to pick them for the purpose of breaking and entering, though."

"Have you?"

"Well, when the time comes, I'm sure I'll manage." The smile on her face was smug as she joined him outside, and then crossed her arms over her chest. "Though I have to admit, I think there's a bigger chance that they'll open up for me, than a big, burly man like you."

And she bit her tongue at that to keep herself from laughing. "...don't drop me."
